2012 blog: June 5 2010

Having offered to limit my blogging moments to the big ones, here it is on a Tuesday night after another splendid meal, and I want to tell you about electrical wiring. Back in December 2011 I bought this manual published by Black and Decker, full of idiot-proof photos, and I read it, and it made more or less sense, and then today I started looking at an actual panel, and boxes, and 12.2 wire and then we discussed how many 3-way switches we needed and ran wire into the crawl space and up into the visitor's bedroom (that's you) and it all started to make sense. The Master Builder too, even if he's been wiring his house in Basel all winter, broke off the afternoon and went back to his books.

And did I tell you we had a 'friendly' visit from Leon Leblanc, our building inspector, who arrived unannounced and uninvited last Wednesday to have a look at what Michael has been doing. When he entered the house he was genuinely impressed by the quality of the work, by the massiveness of the wood, the stability of it all.

And why wouldn't he be impressed: it's a work of art.
