Canada 2 UK 0 at MacBouche lounge and fryerie

Just back from St Peter's McBouche bar and fryerie where we watched Rhian's Olympic soccer team completely dominate the UK women even more than we dominated the bar for the event. We all won. And Roger Federer beat his young Argentine opposition, Juan Del Potro, to make Deborah very happy. Murray beat Jokavich to make All-England happy.

It's so hot here it feels like Portugal. No, I exaggerate. Like Montreal except for the nice cool breezes which cut across the banks of heat... This is a long way from the mists and rain of the earlier months. Won't gather much water for our well if the weather continues like this... Still thinking about how to deliver water to our chalet.

So, where was I? We got back here earlier this week with a load of beds and desks and my first job was to assess what needs to be done. Pretty simple really: finish floors, do walls, do siding and plumbing. Just do it.

I repaired the roof where I screwed up last year (did I already tell you?) and Deborah proceeded to start planning what to do with all this flat land sloping down to the water. I also fiddled with all the electrical boxes which weren't projecting enough from the walls. Then I finally got down to the last two floors in the master bedroom and bathroom. Easy work when you know what you're doing.

Plan is to finish the floors, then get back to the walls, insulation and finish. Sounds easy, doesn't it?

Holiday mood here, with Ralph, the MB's Basle work colleague and weekend hang-gliding companion hanging out and plunging into various extreme sports. Janet and Wayne arrive for a two week holiday, living on the boat for now. Easy life, with a floor growing beneath my feet.

Wish you were here...
