October 20 and the wood arrives. The end of 2011 is in sight
Early morning, pitch black until 7.30, raining hard and I decide to try out my new raingear, pants, jacket, boots. I am clearing up the garbage from the installation of the windows (how come construction people just throw all that stuff around?) and at 9 am a sound from a truck, and a large Volvo draws up to the house. The wood has arrived, Alberta Pine, cut dead standing in the beatle-ravaged forests of the west and therefore quite dry. Some blue streaks in the wood which we'll have to assess when it's up. The Master Builder walks down with his coffee in his Kenya cup and boards his excavator to unload the 4 tons of wood on the truck. FOUR TONS! So now the end is in sight even if the rain keeps us indoors today. We can cover the house in this next few days...
