The photo for today would have been of Michael on the backhoe stuck in the mud when digging a whole for the septic field engineer. Way too embarassing. Headline: "Construction Grinds to a Halt".
On the subject of septic systems, in Nova Scotia there is a list of “Qualified Persons”, all engineers, who are empowered to design and oversee the installation of septic systems. They actually act as agents of the Ministry of the Environment. In some cases they even offer to take over all the selection of system and installion worries. But this potentially puts the QP in a conflict of interest. Our QP kindly drives us 10 miles showing us Peat Moss systems he’s QPed along the lakeshore and they all look very tidy and low-impact. Inevitably though he comes across more as a salesman than a professional advisor.
I finally finish assembling IKEA kitchen cabinets. They are really brilliant and if you ever get stuck you can be sure that it’s your mistake, not IKEA’s. But that took me hours and I still haven’t installed the 5 drawers on their runners in the large kitchen pantry. But if only building a chalet were as easy as assembling IKEA stuff. It must be the same fun kids get working with LEGO. Scandinavian too. Come to think of it, maybe we could live in that pantry over there although it is a bit too close to the shape of a coffin for my taste.
