Sunday July 3 2011 Waterproofing the foundation wall

So that is my day: I write my column on the Monarchy, based on reactions among the crowd we have here. I guess I could be more militantly republican but what's the point? If people find young William and Kate a lift, then why not? Just don't ask me how I feel about the Monarchy because I don't feel anything. If there were a referendum to abolish the outfit I would vote yes. There won't be.
That's my day: 3 hours painting a black gooey tar-like substance onto three and a half feet of the frost wall. At the end, I discover that it's probably essential for the Building Inspector and it makes it look as though we really care. Tomorrow I shall apply a second coat to make it looks as though we really care.
then I collapse and read and sleep until it's time to go to Dundee and the Resort and Golf club where we eat with David and Rosemary, no doubt to celebrate Independence Day tomorrow. Not a single car on the road back from Dundee: the place is deserted.
